Everyone wants to be happy. But what does it take to be truly happy, and first off, how does it feel – to be happy?
I asked people around:
What does it mean to be happy? When are you happy?
I realized, there’re two categories of people.
- One group reported that they are happy when they feel content. They are not worrying – they are happy.
- For the other group happy meant excited, as a result of something really amazing happening, like a wedding, or birth of a child. That feeling is happiness.
I found it extremely interesting. If we have a different definition of what “happy” is, then, naturally, it would take a different path for us to get there. In other words, my happy, is not necessarily your happy, and vice versa. It seems to me that some people clearly are relying on the external factors to be happy, whereas the first group was more introspected when it came to defining happiness.
Either way, if we know what happiness means to us, it would make sense that it would be easier to get there. Right?
What’s your happy?
